First post

Ok... what to blog about? Well, a couple weeks ago I got a bill in the mail from the school telling me I had an outstanding balance of at least $1K. I talked to my Veteran's Affairs (VA) Rep to find out what that was all about. So what happened was the Cisco courses I signed up for last spring were cancelled at the Laurel campus and so the VA office didn't pay for it. The college offered me to take the course in Largo, which I accepted, but they didn't submit that change to the VA office. So, my VA advisor submitted the memo to the office and warned me next time a course is cancelled and I sign up for something else to make sure I submit the form to clear that up with the office. I guess now I'll go see what my classmates are blogging about and comment on their entries.

  1. Hello,
This is a shame that this happened to you and your just now finding out about it. The one thing I recommend is that you stay on top of the financial part ALWAYS. Things happen and no one ever wants to get a bill out-of-the-blue. There is a reason why your getting school benefits through the VA but one office not communicating with another can really mess a student up.

Even if you feel you are pestering an office or person, I would do it in a heartbeat to ensure my financial obligation is correctly processed. never let anything slip, keep copies of everything, and most important - get the name(s) of the people helping you.

I hope that everything is cleared up for you.
