Here I am in NC

I made it North Carolina last night around 11 PM. I would have got there three hours sooner if I took my usual route but my GasBuddy app showed me a station in Harrisburg, VA at $3 a gallon. So I waited until I got there to fill up. I just now did the math and realized, with the extra miles it took me off my normal route, I was better off filling up at the Citgo and taking the straight shot to my aunt's.

Anyway, it is nice to see Mom and my brother again after so many years. My sister couldn't make it for reason but oh well. Today we are going to Wrightsville Beach and get burritos for lunch. Then for dinner, I'm making lasagna, with Caesar Salad and garlic bread.

Quest For Cheap Gas

Yesterday I download a GasBuddy app for my phone. I had to ride with my wife and roommate to give his car a jump. All I did though is take up space in the car so I'm not sure why they needed me. Oh well, it was a good oppurtunity to see how reliable the app was.

We drove by a Crown station and yes, the $3.43 price tag did match up. We jumped the Nissan and I drove it home while the other two went shopping for a gift for my sister-in-law. On the way home I stopped by the Citgo on 198 where I always fill up to check that price. The app showed $3.47, which was correct, but that station had a cash-only price of $3.41 which the app doesn't show. It would be a great app if it enabled that option but until then, I'll never know what other sweet deals I'm missing out on.

I'm going to give it one more shot before my trip to North Carolina and see how well it does for long trips. It showed me a Sunoco somewhere in Virginia for $3.03. If wait until I get there to fill and realize I past a better price half way along the route or see a better price later on the trip, that program is getting deleted from my phone.

I took my final today in my computer hardware class. I did pretty decent this time. My overall grade came out even better. I got a B.

HTML results

I managed to finish off my HTML draft with a 95, which is a little better than I expected since I couldn't find a place to put that third subheading. My instructor remarked that I cancelled the heading and centering in the wrong order, but either way the tags were right next to each other so I don't see how that would have made any difference in display to the browser. Oh well.

Thursday I have my final exam for my computer hardware class, followed by nice pizza party. Then I'm going to North Carolina for the weekend. (I just had a second thought and was about to back up and delete for safety reasons, but my third one reminded me I'm going alone so my roommates will still be here. Sorry thieves.) My aunt is hosting a party for my brother's boot camp graduation.

HTML project

I spent Friday trying to get my HTML project done. I need to get three heading levels in there but I only managed to get in two. I also need to find a place where I should bold and underline text. If I have time after this assignment, I'll try to work on my wood project.

Also today I have to go to the rental office and have them fix the A/C. I should have known something was wrong last night when it felt cooler outside than in a bedroom with both floor and ceiling fans running.

Wednesday I did a little cleanup in the house. Wife was complaining about the laundry I left on the floor. Of course I don't even get a thanks now that I did pick it all up and in addition clean that nasty-ass bathroom. Oh well. I guess I better get on HTML project now. I'm still not sure what I going to make it about.

Missing you all

It's been almost a week now and I got no replies. What's going on? No big deal really, it's just not likely the fact I've made two posts in a row and heard (or rather read) nothing back.

So I spent my weekend going through chatrooms getting people to watch my video only to have them tell me to back off, put me on ignore, or ban me from the room. It was that, and sitting with the kitten on my lap who won't leave me alone. I don't know why it favors me when my sister-in-law is the one who wanted it.

Today I took my exam for this course. I got 80-something, which is pretty decent. I went to check my grades and saw I'm in the low C area. I saw a zero on my FTP logon and after emailing my instructor, I realized I finished a day late. I'm guessing that was the reason for it now. So I went to see how bad that hurt me and found this dropped me from what could've been an A. Dammit!

Munchkin

I tried to make a post Wednesday but I got really busy. It all started when my roommate needed a ride from his friend's house. I thought I was going to just pick him up and bring him home, but he wanted to hang out for a while and play Munchkin. I had just finished a workout when he called so I was going to wash up after I brought him home, so I had to hope nobody noticed the whole time I was there.

Anyway, I figured I might as well play too since Dave and his friend Larry decided to start up a game. Me and Larry's daughter, Jamie, ended up kicking serious ass. I was taking the lead first, then Goo, Larry's son, had to battle this monster that would earn him two levels instead of the usual one. Any helper gets the level award as well unlike the other monster cards. So the kids took him out, and one of Jamie's treasures was the ability to steal Goo's awarded levels. Goo got pissed now that he didn't advance, and Jamie went up four levels!

Later on when it was my turn, I had to fight a monster worth four of treasures. After throwing out all my cards to counter everything everyone else threw to power up the monster and break me down, I managed to take it down and earn my prize. Luckily for me, someone did a piss poor job at shuffling cards. There were four "Go Up A Level" cards in a row, which I didn't mention until the end of the game. I was at a level seven so I could only use two and go up to a nine. I had to kill a monster to earn my winning level.

So it was me and Jamie at level nine. It was getting past the kids bedtime so Larry wanted to finish this up and Dave wanted to go home. Well me and Jamie already got this far so we wanted to finish it up the proper way. After two rounds, neither of us still got that last level so Larry finished off with a die roll. Jamie rolled a four and I rolled a lousy three. So she won the die roll, but Dave declared me the winner with having all this armor and weapons.

Taco Hell

Last weekend my wife sent me out to get some food from Taco Bell. She wanted my to get something for her sister, and deal #1 for her. I go there and order COMBO #1, not the DEAL because I thought they were the same thing. Of course it was after my wife bitches me out when I realize combo and deal are two DIFFERENT things! Deal #1 was a chicken burrito with doritos, whereas combo #1 was a beef burrito with a taco. She was mad because she doesn't like their beef. Anyway, WTF? Instead of a "deal", why don't they call it combo #... whatever the next number would be after the combos they already had to start with? That way, things would not be so damn confusing!

I had an exam in my computer hardware course last night and I did lousy. Oh well, I guess I'll have to study more next time. I'm off to bed now, later.

Come on slackers

I spent today trying to fulfill the requirements for the blog assignment. The hardest part was finding two bloggers worth following. First I had to find a blog interesting enough, and secondly, few of us managed to post three times a week like we were supposed to. When I looked in the discussion forum, I noticed half of our class hasn't even started the blog assignment or posted a video, which is due not much more than a week away. Oh well, I did my part so it's not my problem. I'm going to wash my uniform for my reserve weekend now and then go to bed.

Happy 7/4

Well if I didn't have this blog assignment to work on, I would have just sat this one out like a regular day. I did all that partying and watching fireworks and stuff so I'm not missing anything. So I decided to make a Red, White, and Blueberry Poundcake for my wife and her work crew to enjoy. The link shows the original recipie but the picture below is the result of my modification to it.

I pureed the fruit in the blender instead of simply laying it on. Also, to make the stars, I put some of the icing in a little bag with a star tip from Micheal's Arts and Crafts to, of course, put the stars on.

This picture is from one of my previous attempts in which I fixed the fruit with the icing together in hopes the spread would be more firm but it faded the color quite a bit. I'm showing this picture however because the stars look better.

Aftermath

Well I gave my wife the bad news about the bird the following day. As you might expect, she was upset... both, with the loss of her bird and my attempt to cover it up. She didn't want the new one and had me take it back, so I did that and now I'm going to miss this one too. Later she asked if I wanted to keep it but since I already done took it back to Bethesda, she's the one that wanted a bird, and three cats is enough for me, I chose not to.

Anyone still out of power? We finally got ours last night. I can't believe we were out for two full days. I'm sure a lot of stray cats were grateful of the power outage. They don't care how long a big bucket of chicken sat in a worthless fridge, so I fed that to them. I thought about making that my viral video but I think the quality would be too crappy with dirty windows and hi-beams being my best lighting. Well I'll just hang on that one as a last resort.
