Well I gave my wife the bad news about the bird the following day. As you might expect, she was upset... both, with the loss of her bird and my attempt to cover it up. She didn't want the new one and had me take it back, so I did that and now I'm going to miss this one too. Later she asked if I wanted to keep it but since I already done took it back to Bethesda, she's the one that wanted a bird, and three cats is enough for me, I chose not to.
Below are some pictures of the carnage the storm left behind from last Friday. This is near the corner of Route 1 and Contee Rd. It's actually a few more blocks up north.
Anyone still out of power? We finally got ours last night. I can't believe we were out for two full days. I'm sure a lot of stray cats were grateful of the power outage. They don't care how long a big bucket of chicken sat in a worthless fridge, so I fed that to them. I thought about making that my viral video but I think the quality would be too crappy with dirty windows and hi-beams being my best lighting. Well I'll just hang on that one as a last resort.

My buddies in Maryland City still are without power. They have a generator going though.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't around for the storm. Coming home to all the damage around the town was just nuts.
Your attempt to replace the bird made a great story but I'm glad she knows the truth.
How did you manage three cats with the bird? Was it a big bird? Was it not afraid of the cats?
The bird was a sun conure; they measure about a foot from the top of the head to the tip of the tail. It was afraid of the cats like everyone else when he first came home, but after a while it was only afraid of Houdini who would terrorize it. The other two cats didn't bother with it much.
DeleteThat storm on Friday night was quite a surprise. We were watching the movie "Thor" when all of a sudden with no warning the first major wind gust hit the house. We all jumped up and started looking out the windows and I tried to get the weather channel in. It was all de-fragmented at that time, all I could recognize is that we where in the red/violet area, so that was not good. We were out of power for about 36 hours and suffered :). What to do without AC, TV, PC....
